Week 5

Shadows....
Posting will occur later this week.  Thanks!

Week 4

Self Portrait

This week was very difficult for me, which is why it is being posted late.  First, I am not confident in my skin; therefore, I do not like to have my picture taken. Second, I have not mastered the high-school-girl-extended-arm-pouty-lip shot with the camera phone.  Finally, I was out of town for a photography retreat with Lara Blair, akaModern Prairie Girl in Snyder, Texas, at the Windmill Ranch Preserve and didn't have internet service.

As you can tell from the above paragraph, I am good at making excuses; however, Lara Blair was not going to give me a chance to get away with that any longer.  She was gracious enough to take head shots of all the photographers at the retreat.  Thank you, Lara, for a drink from a fire hydrant coupled with encouragement and pie in the sky discussions.

Your Sonnet

In my high school English class, we are finishing our study of British sonnets with an application of writing a personal sonnet.  I always try to write an example for the students, and this one seemed to flow easily from my heart.

Your Sonnet
January 2012
A dream created many years ago,
Seems like forever, always on my mind.
My thoughts alone are never to be known,
Far hidden in my heart no one to find.

Still haunted by his eyes, his smile, his voice.
A mem’ry held so dear inside my heart.
He seemed so fixed to stay with love’s young choice,
While years went by the embers they did spark.

Secrets and shared and suddn'ly with one word,
Our lives unite and both imagine love.
His whispers now are all I ever heart,
Could God be hearing prayers I sent above?

This trance awakened now, body and soul.
To be with you, alive, fulfilled, and whole.

Week 3

Dreamed a Dream was difficult for me to interpret, plus I am too giddy about my upcoming photography retreat, Top Secret in Texas with Lara from Modern Prarie Girl, to think too deeply about an application for my life.  I "stole" a picture from Spring Break 2011 because one day it is my dream to live by the beach and have a photography business.

Week 2

Made with Love

My son was made with love 15 years ago, and my daughter was made with love 5 years ago.  They are the two things in my life that I couldn't help but think of for this week's photography project.  This picture was simply capturing the moment of a typical Tuesday evening in our house.  Because the colors on the kids were in complete contrast, I decided to try a little editing and came up with a color fade version.

Week 1

My resolution for 2012 is to
BLOOM.

I'm linking up with My 3 Boybarians and her Project 52 Photo Challenge.

How to Bloom

In order to bloom, I need to be planted and well grounded....first in my relationship with the Lord, then in my personal life in terms of where I am headed.  One of my favorite quotes from Seneca says that if a man knows not what harbor he seeks, any wind is the right wind.

I need to seek harbors for:
-my relationship with the Lord through reading and prayer
-building relationships with my kids by spending family and individual time together
-developing my gift of teaching through insightful lesson plans
-writing
-photography

I am also working on two 52 projects.
One is to take a photo a week for 52 weeks.
Two is about doing pushups for 52 weeks in order to work up to 52 pushups.

Do you have any other suggestions for 52 Projects?
